Meet Aisha Kay! Thanks for following my journey “The Skinny-Thick Chronicles!” on The Elle Scoop. I’m 29 years old, knocking on 30s door, and I’m on the journey of a life time to discover me and what it means to be HEALTHY AND FIT! :) Life hasn’t always been easy, setbacks have been present, but I am learning to live a healthy lifestyle. It hasn’t been the easiest challenge to accept, but I’m determined to accomplish my goal!
Weight-loss, skinny, fitness, health… I had to learn what all this meant after I began my fitness Journey.
In high school I was an extremely active teenager playing basketball and soccer. I did not worry about what I ate. Fast food was my go to, so naturally when I went to college that didn’t change.
What did change was my weight. I did not think about what I was eating and I was not physically active.
I began a seven year relationship at the age of 19 and became wrapped up in that lifestyle. I ate what he ate and did not exercise at all. I was happy so I didn’t care about how much I weighed. I gained about 110lbs during that relationship.
At the age of 26 when my seven year relationship ended I weighed a whopping 262lbs. Depression and low self-worth set in. Luckily, I had a great friend that encouraged me to go to the gym with her 5 days a week and helped me change my eating habits. At first it was all about getting “skinny” to make my ex-paramour take me back.
Then after I lost my first 30lbs something in me changed! I loved the compliments I was getting and realized that others wanted to know about my journey. I started to feel confident and wanted to lose the weight for ME. I joined Weight Watchers and lost another 30lbs. I realized that I was able to do a lot more physically when I was 60lbs less and I didn’t have the constant aches and pains that I had.
I now realize that being skinny does not mean healthy or fit. I have struggled with eating healthy. I gained 10lbs back and then lose 6lbs doing a fad diet. I understand that in order to loose and maintain I have to eat healthier in addition to exercising. Being healthy and fit is definitely 100% mental.
I still have 50lbs to reach my goal weight. In this process I plan on working on my health and fitness. I am learning how to eat healthy and exercise in order to enhance my health and fitness. I am by no means a trainer but I am eager to learn and willing to share my journey. I will be starting a program called 21 day fix next week to bust through this plateau I am experiencing. I Hope I can inspire you through my journey!
Life is changing rapidly. Please follow me while I seek God to WIN!! :)
