Last week we discussed the importance of following after God’s voice and his instruction. Harkening to God’s voice opens the doors to prosperity and success in our lives. Stepping out of our comfort zones to push toward the mark that Christ has called us to can sometimes feel like a daunting task. The “ who, what, when, and where’s” can often make us feel overwhelmed, especially when the answers seem hard to comprehend, understand, or even feasibly grasp the mechanics of how everything will fall into place. It’s easy in situations like this to quit, throw up your hands up, and think that God will just hand deliver “the dream” without you having to be obedient enough to step into the pathway that He picked out for you.
17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
18 But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your[a] works, and I will show you my faith by my[b] works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?[c] 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? 22 Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? 23 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”[d] And he was called the friend of God. 24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
25 Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Take some time and think about the scripture in James that is written above. Are you showing yourself to be faithful by following through with God’s instructions? Faith means taking the first step. It means doing your part and knowing that God will handle all the other details. It means following the direction of Christ and the instruction that He gives you. It could be so small i.e- “Go to bed on time.” All too often we take these small instructions LIGHTLY. We hear the instruction and ignore it, and then we go before God BEGGING for Him to give us MORE: “Open the door God,” “Increase me Lord,” “Give me a career Lord” “Show me my purpose Lord”… we want the grand prize, but we’re not willing to handle THE SMALL STUFF FIRST.
Yes, going to bed on time SEEMS like an insignificant detail … but being well rested produces a productive day at work/home… and great production brings great favor at work… and great favor brings PROMOTION… promotion OPENS DOORS… and open doors means opportunity to live “the dream” that God placed within your heart to bring GLORY to His name. You see, promotion comes from God (Psalms 75:6-7), so its important that we are obedient and align ourselves with God’s will for our lives in order for Him to use us to bring glory to His name. God has a plan… but it involves being faithful in a few things … so He can make you ruler over many :) Matthew 25:23 …God is FAITHFUL, the question is WILL YOU BE?
So today… don’t worry about details like the “what’s and how’s” of what God has in store for you. Instead, worry about following HIS LEAD; these are THE BABY STEPS, that lead to a PROSPEROUS FUTURE :)
Remember our failure to comply will only leave us in a dry land, unfruitful in our works.
LET’S GO! Have a great day and be blessed! #GetScooped
